Veja
The cult sneakers from Paris
With its sneakers, Veja is a pioneer in fair trade in the shoe business. Every single detail - and there are an insane number of them in shoes - is produced at Veja with a special focus on sustainability and a fair value chain. The French shoe label Veja combines retro elements with contemporary fashion influences in the design of its stylish sneakers.
Design and social responsibility
All production steps, the origin of all materials and even the banks from which the company takes out loans are documented transparently. The natural rubber for the soles is obtained from indigenous people in the Amazon region. The cotton is planted and harvested in the north-east of Brazil under the strictest fair trade guidelines. And finally, the Veja shoes, or Baskets in French, are manufactured and sewn in the south. On arrival in French Europe, Veja employs local people in social reintegration projects for the logistics, storage and shipping of the shoes. The electricity that the company needs for these work steps is sourced from a cooperative of small, green producers.
