Mercer
Sustainable high-end shoes
The Mercer Brand was founded in Amsterdam in 2013 out of a passion for shoes and sustainability. The name is derived from Mercer Street in New York City, where founder Pim Dresen bought his first pair of sneakers at the age of 10. His mission is simple: to create sustainable products with an American vintage look and feel. They used to have the slogan "it's not all socks and sandals" - a reference to the fact that sustainable products are not only suitable for a certain cliché niche market, but can also be aesthetically appealing to a broader market.
Pim focuses on creating individual silhouettes that are completely self-designed from the sole to the laces, giving them a unique look and feel. He emphasizes sustainability by using materials that are certified according to the Global Recycled Standard, PETA and vegan, as well as Piñatex and Leather Working Group. Six years ago, he created the first completely sustainable vegan sneaker made from pineapple. This was followed by shoes made from grapes, apples and mesh made from plastic recovered from the ocean, demonstrating his commitment to the environment in every product he makes.
