How to find your new favorite jeans

High waist, mom jeans, boyfriend jeans or skinny jeans?

There is now a huge selection of different cuts of jeans that you can vary depending on the occasion, your mood and your taste. Admittedly, it almost makes us a little dizzy too. We'll introduce you to the most common jeans fits so that you can find the right jeans for you in this huge universe.

To ensure that you feel completely comfortable in your jeans, it is important that they fit properly and suit you. In addition to the right size, the cut also plays an important role. The main differences between the different cuts are the waistband height and the fit. Let's start with the waistband height.

The waistband height

Not everyone finds it comfortable when their jeans reach above the belly button, while others can't do without their high waist jeans. But which cut suits which body shape?

Waistband height jeans RRREVOLVE

  1. High Waist
Up to the navel or even above it

  2. Medium Waist
    Just below the belly button

  3. Low waist
    Sits low on the hips

a. High Waist - The optical miracle

Cut high, up to the belly button or even above it. They perfectly accentuate curves, flatter the hips and emphasize the waist. They also visually elongate the legs and, in the best case scenario, create a great bum.

b. Medium Waist - The golden mean

Not too high, not too low. The mid-rise waistband just below the navel is simple and classic. The advantage: these jeans are often more comfortable when sitting down as they don't cut in. But make sure they are not too tight, otherwise they can show off your hips unflatteringly above the waistband.

c. Low Waist - The hipster jeans

Their low-waisted cut emphasizes the tummy line and any little belly. Accordingly, "love handles" don't like the jeans so much, but they conjure up a little more curves on slim hips and make a flat bottom appear a little rounder.

Mom jeans are the modern version of the carrot jeans from the 90s and are usually worn high waisted and ankle-baring. While the cut is fitted at the waist, the bottom and hips are only skimmed over. The thighs are also only just touched, but the leg runs up to the hem like a "carrot". You can roll the hem up to your ankles.

Boyfriend Fit - the androgynous

These boyfriend jeans have a relaxed, slightly masculine cut. The waistband sits low on the hips and they are loose and airy around the buttocks and thighs. The leg tapers towards the ankles and the hem is casually rolled up - if the cut is not already cropped. The waistband should always be visible - so it's best to tuck your top into the pants. Caution: it can make you look smaller.

Slouchy Fit & Balloon Fit - the tummy fit

In fact, a balloon-shaped cut that is worn high waisted. Balloon or slouchy jeans are tight at the waist and bottom, but have a rounded cut at the thighs. They then taper towards the ankles, but remain wide at the calves. This gives them their characteristic balloon-like shape.

Bootcut fit - the wild one

The bootcut jeans live up to their name: they fit close to the upper body and are slightly flared from the knee down the lower leg so that they can easily be pulled over the boots or rest on top of the boots. Very practical for all cow girls and boys. These jeans make your legs look slimmer and smaller people look a little taller.

Flared leg - the flared leg

They were already around in the days of flower power: flared jeans. Flared jeans sit close to your upper body and get wider and wider from the knee down. The flare falls over the shoes and ends with the sole of the shoe, and can vary from slight to extremely wide - depending on how you like it. It flatters the female figure like no other and makes your legs look longer. Tip: If you like it even wider, you should go for the "wide leg".

Wide Leg - the width

They are super casual jeans with a wide leg and an A-line. They are characteristically tight-fitting at the waistband and taper out from there to the foot. Depending on the model, everything is possible with wide jeans, from "light" to "extra wide" - but always guaranteed with plenty of legroom. In fact, the legs of this style reach all the way to the floor. If you want something a little shorter, then go for a wide cropped leg.
